It sounds like you're trying to get Susannah's tag set up — great instinct to make sure it's secure and in the right spot!
For a harness, the leash attachment point (usually a D-ring on the back) isn't the best place for ID tags anyway, since tags there can get caught or be hard to read. Here are a few common options that work well with a harness:
- Front chest ring: Many harnesses have a second D-ring on the chest panel. This is a popular spot for tags — it keeps them visible and out of the way of the leash clip.
- Collar worn separately: A lot of dog owners use a harness for walks but still keep a lightweight flat collar on their dog just to hold the ID tag. The collar sits around the neck and the harness goes on over it. This is a very common setup.
- Tag silencer or pouch: These are small rubber or fabric sleeves that wrap around the tag to keep it from jangling and help it lie flat against the harness strap. You can slide one onto any strap that has a D-ring.
- Slide-on tag: Instead of a traditional hanging tag with a split ring, slide-on tags attach directly onto a collar or harness strap and lie flat. No ring needed.
Whichever spot you choose, just make sure the tag hangs freely enough that someone can flip it over and read both sides easily, and check every few weeks that the attachment ring hasn't bent open.
That said, this sounds like it might be a question about a PRR tag or registration product specifically — and if so, I want to make sure you get the right answer! I don't have access to account or product details, so for anything specific to your PRR tag or membership, the team can help you directly:
